What’s your opinion about when you hear “City of Light”?  Did you know the world calls Paris the “City of Light”?  Did you realize Paris is called that since it was a position of edification in the eighteenth Century and it was one of the absolute first urban communities to utilize streetlamps in 1889?  When you think about “light”, do you think about the accompanying Oxford Dictionaries definition: “the common specialist that invigorates sight and makes things visible”?  I realize that is my first idea.

So when I think about that meaning of light, it doesn’t sound good to me that Paris is known as the “City of Light”. It would sound good to me that Las Vegas, Nevada is the “City of Light”.  Why, you ask?  Have you seen everything lit up from a plane coming in for the landin g?  The lighting “animates sight and makes things noticeable”. It’s something to see!  Let’s make a correlation on real light utilization among Paris and Las Vegas.  The Eiffel Tower in Paris lights utilize 22 megawatts for each day.  That’s around a $3,500 light bill for every day!  Wow, right??  Okay… . Presently Las Vegas has a light bill of around $1.27 million every day and uses up to 8,000 megawatts each day. The MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas alone has a light bill of more than $3,000 each day as per Luxreview.com!
